GO Imus! This is really great news...

Nick D.

Great news! Imus is spreading...hopefully more medium/smaller markets will pick up the show......

Pundits were predicting in December that Citadel will pre-empt several local talk shows/hosts....seems like most pickups are happening after "flips" from music stations....

It just may turn out that Imus will be heard in more markets than when he was unjustly terminated by the morons at Viacom/NBC Universal....

Tom Swid

Skiwolf, the lyrics are under the previous post about Imus returning to DC. Scroll down towards the bottom.

Ree

File this one under you can't make this stuff up. I miss Mayor Ray Nagin, Would Bernie, touch this one with a ten foot pole?

Dirt Farmer

He lost all his corn,
Can't pay off his loan,
He lost all his corn...

ID

Has anyone heard the rumour that Senator Clinton and Barack Obama had an illicit tryst on one of the campaign stops? GROSE!

alice

Dirt Farmer, I've been singing that song all day! I can't get it out of my mind!!

alice

It's hard to get those lyrics, 'Poor old dirt farmer he's lost all his corn.' I can't get all those syllables in with the tune. My poor students had to suffer with me trying all day. Of course, Levon Helm has no problem. My sister introduced his music to me so many years ago I can't remember. Thanks Imus for not letting us forget him.

Grammar Ho

Charles was going on about having Brit Hume's babies...I wish he could father mine

RICH

Now that Imus has converted to FNC...has he said anything about his former sleeze reporter Janice Dean...FNC's Favorite Weather bunny?

RICH

Remember when they were still at WFAN studios? Bernie pointed out a strange resemblance between Janice & the Iman.

saad-o

Rich,

I remember Janice Dean very well from the old show. She succeeded the great Christy Musumeci as news writer/scum reporter. The boys used give it to Christy good, and she gave it back. Janice was kinda the "girl next door", and she often looked uncomfortable when they would joke her about her boyfriends, etc. As I recall, Janice wanted to leave the show, but was afraid to tell Imus. He found out of course, and was pissed. One morning she was just gone, which he mentioned briefly and testily. I got the idea at the time that Sid (probably her best friend on the show) and Bernie asked Imus not to rip her. I never heard him directly speak of her again. Then I saw her one day on Fox as a weather bunny. I sorta doubt Imus will bring her up.

saad-o

Grammer Ho,

I'd volunteer to wear a Brit Hume mask...

Harley

Just wanted to post this on a newer thread:

What's up with anonymous? Why are they on here berating us? I don't agree with folks playing the race/victim card. Man, it's 2008 NOT 1868!!! or 1968!!! When are we all as AMERICANS going to work TOGEHTER to make this a country a better place? They keep going on and on about what Blacks have to face, like there are no Black racists! Or do Black racists get a pass because of all of the suffering they or their ancestors have endured?

I think if Bernie had a ten foot pole, he'd be able to touch almost any vagina he'd want. ;-)

Harley you GO girl - I never scroll down from your postings - I LOVE to read what you have to say. You've been here almost since day 1. Honest & sincere. Because you identified yourself as an I-Fan & a black woman I value your point of view. I am a 'wonder bread' white Irish woman & always am glad to learn about how 'others' feel. Harley, you are a breath of fresh air. Thank-you.

That poor ole dirt farmer needs to sell his farm, move to the city and work as a Wal-Mart greeter !

RTR

It's great that the I-man is back in Washington & Atlanta .. but both are Citadel stations. Maybe a Citadel station in Chicago will soon join them.

It will be really exciting when stations with other owners opt for IITM.

Greetings one and all on this cold, snowy day! I am a Levon Helm fan and his CD Dirt Farmer is quite good. I, too, get that song swirling around in my brain and it will not go away. Mr. Don Imus has introduced me to some enjoyable music over the years. I may be in the minority here, but I truly enjoy seeing Imus' soft side once in a while. I like the kinder, gentler Iman! Tho't it was extremely sweet yesterday when Deirdre said she loved Imus and he returned the sentiment. Imus is still in control, still a grumpy rascal, still an icon but yet we glimpse a human, vulnerable side of him, the caring side that enables him to keep hie promises and to provide a quality show. Now, this is just my humble opinion folks, but it is honestly what I believe.Back to Mr. Helm, I admire his musical talent and the fact that he bounced back after throat cancer. They tho't he'd never speak again, let alone sing. He is an inspiration to all just as Mr. Imus is. With worries about the economy , the state of the earth and other potential crises, it is comforting to know that Imus is there to tell it like it is. I am anxiously anticipating the release of the Imus Ranch CD! Had a good breakfast this morning which included a fried egg, toast with butter and to add a wee bit o' health, fresh strawberries on the side. Copius amounts of coffee at the ready, too.
We spring forward tonight and I dread losing the hour of sleep because it's tiring, but the payoff is having longer days of sunlight to enjoy. Cheerio my good people until next time... Cid

Cid: Is an I-Fan {like me} I am a Cid-Fan -I love his cheery postings sprinkled with food thoughts!

Skiwolf

Some rumors say Imus could be on WLS in Chicago which would be huge if true. WLS like WABC and WFAN is a 50,000 watt clear channel station. We used to be able to pick it up in Colorado at night.

Skiwolf

Tom,

Thanks again for posting the lyrics. I really appreciate it. Amazing how they fit HRC to a tee even 14 years later.

I-Girl

GO HILLARY! So sad that she's bashed regularly and that B. Obama gets a free pass.

deltadawnwhatsthatfloweryouhaveon

You guys have gotten Dirt Farmer on my mind this morning and it's goin' round and round and round like Levon on his tractor hee hee

deltadawnwhatsthatfloweryouhaveon

Oh yeah, the Cidster is amazing!

frec

We woke up to snow on the daffodils...my "gift of the day!"

Thank you, Harley...Thank you, Cid...you show us how to live the "attitude of gratitude" :)

"It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself and claims kindred with the great God who made him." - Abraham Lincoln

frec

I have never heard Imus on an actual radio, but I will make a point of tuning-in during my next visit to Atlanta...couple weeks from now probably.

Last weekend's car trip provided the opportunity for playings of the "Dirt Farmer" CD in its entirety, as well as a Sirius tune-in to Fred's Trailer Park Bash!

Kathy

That was a great quote FREC! Thanks to you and Cid and everyone else for the inspiration and , as FREC said, "attitude of gratitude"---that is so very important and keeps you healthy to boot! I agree with Cid regarding his Imus comments. He has such insight. Have a good day all!

Ree

DJJACK,

I get points for setting that Bernie joke up:)

http://imustimes.wordpress.com/2008/03/08/matt-taibbi-when-doves-cry/

Bella

I was thinking this morning how we should be so grateful and thankful for the blessings we have so the "attitude of gratitude" fits right in.

DJJack

Ree,

I'm always happy to share the points.

CID, I needed ya this morning. I had to spend the night on a radio station couch last night so I could be at another job at four am this morning to work 13 hours on my birthday. In a blizzard. Grrrr.

Oh well...the blizzard will end this afternoon and my fiance is cooking dinner for me. Life is good. Plus I am up to Wednesday on the Imus podcasts. Yeahhhhh....life is REALLL good.

So see?? Thanks, CID!

Harley

I'm trapped in the blizzard too! Got food, but no vino! :(

Ree

Bella,

I think it was Oprah herself that introduced people to the idea of keeping a journal of blessings? I remember because it got buzz. The message being people always dwell on what isn't working in their lives, they should also count what is working and count their blessings. "attitude of gratitude" It is an old concept being revised isn't it (count your blessings)

Kathy

I first heard of a "journal of gratitude" from Sarah ban Breathnach's Simple Abundance book and started writing down a few things I am grateful for, each day. It helps you hold onto the good, focus on what is important and it gives you strength for the bad things. Yes, it IS counting your blessings, just updated :) We have a bunch of snow here too, by the way. After watching yesterday's IITM on RFD-TV, I can tell the I-Man is feeling better and I'm really glad about that.

Mary

I am REALLY REALLY scared about who is going to be President. McCain, is a war hero and all that, but ...and other s have said this...he is quick-tempered, seems gung ho on war and he had to have been affected by his time in the POW camp. I know I shouldn't post this on here; but I'm an Imus fan, I like to read what is written and I come on here a lot; this is weighing on my mind. I know Imus is for McCain but I'm just a scaredy cat about him. Thank you, Mary

frec

Everyone always makes a mad dash for bread, milk and toilet paper... the snow only lasts for 3 hours here, but we all have enough bread, milk and toilet paper to last for weeks.

(Frozen daffodils already thawed and sprung back - didn't lose a one - another gift for the day!)

deltadawnwhatsthatfloweryouhaveon

Sweet, Frec...I love your gift for the day comment.

Enough Already

Coach Stringer believes Imus didn't do enough to make amends to her:

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/watchdog/blog/2008/03/c_vivian_stringer_questions_do.html

DJJack

Frec, no kiddin. People are so short-sigthed. If they'd lay off the milk and the bread, they wouldn't need as much toilet paper.

Stick with the vino (if you're Harley) or the whiskey (if you're me) and you'll be able to just pee the snow away. Hee hee

Ree

Mary,

Glad to see a reader posting, I think we all have trepidations over the next Presidential Election outcome, anyway I know I have my share.

frec

Heehee... thanks for the feedback...well, I'm busting out of here for the rest of the day now that our snow and ice are melted...never even cracked open that brand new bottle of milk...

Love ya's...

Kathy

Our snow is pretty much just a memory now :) It was beautiful while it lasted and I've got the pictures to prove it :))
Have a good weekend all. XOXO

Mary

Hello,
George Bush has vetoed a bill banning waterboarding. What kind of monster is he? I saw him dancing on television, kicking up his heels. While he's dancing, young people are dying in Iraq, gas is approaching 5.00 a gallon, the earth is heating up and there are wars and rumors of wars. I think he will go down in history as the worst president and I am eager for him to get himself back to his ranch in Tx. Thanks, Mary

stdomsgirl

Bush dancing while waiting for McCain - he was dancing on the 4,000 graves of our kids & we don't know how many innocent Iraqis.

stdomsgirl

He is an evil GIT.

Joann

Harley, we need your upbeat thouthts right about now. Things are getting wacky out there in the political arena.
Hillary thinks people that don't agree with her should be fired. Seems to me that is the same thing that happened to Imus.
I remember a while back Imus looked into McCains face and said you will never be president. I believed him.
Hawaii and Arizona don't have daylight savings. Is this something we still need? Annonymous posters are tiring. It seems they have a hidden adjenda. Comcast sent me a form letter email as to why RFD tv is not in my area. I emailed them back and said that was unaccetable. No response yet.

....

Ginger

I try to be positive and grateful, but dang, I hate that daylight savings time stuff...I like it when it gets dark early.. just the nightowl in me I guess. I'll feel like crap tomorrow after losing an hour's sleep, but I'm pretty much grateful for most everything else in my life! All of you who love those extra hours of daylight.. well, enjoy!

Congratulations to Imus for landing Atlanta, and come to think of it, Frec, I have never listened to Imus on an actual radio either!...just tv or the podcasts. It would be great if he would land a Kansas City station. I'd love that!

Mary

I like the extra sunlight and all but it's real hard to get used to that missing hour.
I hope Imus does land a Kansas City station Ginger and that he keeps going adding to his listener/viewership. Mary

Imus is a witty child of Radio. He has a 'Radio-voice' - dulcet tones. He has timing. He knows not to have 'dead air' on air. Fill it with commercials. He grew up listening to the radio. Music. Comedy. News. He's one of the best interviewers of our day. Having said all that - at times he's Wicked' - Wickedly Wicked.
