The Bigelow tea company is reaching out to Imus fans who contacted them after hearing in some press reports that the company had pulled all advertising from Imus' show. Here's one of the impressive e-mails that has been sent out:
Please know I appreciate you sharing how you feel. And although this is a moot point, as Imus has now been fired from CBS, I do want to clarify a few things. I do not know why the media had said we pulled our campaign, we did not. I called Imus immediately when I found that out and made that perfectly clear to him. In my opinion, this is a man that is truly sorry. It was very important to him to visit the Rutgers families (even after he had been fired he wanted to see them!)...the team showed grace in agreeing to meet with him. All I said is that I was reviewing our campaign for next year. I clearly saw in this man great humility. I was looking at this from all sides. To me, it wasn't about advertising; I believe in redemption, I think he had learned a lesson-what more can this man do?
Anyway, this has been very difficult and obviously we could not control the media but, I want to reemphasize, we did not pull our campaign...our ears and heart were open to seeing good things come out of this whole experience.
I am glad you took the time to let us know how you feel; I just wish we had a chance to allow something positive to come from all this divisiveness, for us all to reach a higher place.
Thank you very much for letting me share with you how I feel....
