In October, the 4th Annual Long Island Autism Conference will honor a member of the media for raising autism awareness.
This year it won't be anyone from NBC, CBS, or ABC.
In October, the group plans to give Don and Deirdre Imus it's "Truth in Media Award."
The Imuses are being honored for their work educating the country about autism and environmental toxins, mostly through Imus' former radio show.
Imus used to talk about receiving a lot of heat from management at WFAN and MSNBC for droning on and on about autism-- but all of that talk helped educate millions of listeners.
Unfortunately Imus isn't able to speak about autism-- at least for the time being. Maybe he'll get the chance again, before the event planned for October 20-21 in Hauppauge, New York.
