Barbara's Bombshells

Barbara Walter's book tour kicks into high gear next week, and one of her many appearances will be on Imus in the Morning.

Bab's 624 page book is packed full of juicy stuff, including the revelation that she had an affair with U.S. Senator Edward Brooke in the 1970s.

In December 1996, Walters appeared on Imus' show to talk about the most fascinating people of 1996.  She also talked about her recent interview with Bill Clinton, and how she pressed the President on whether he should be held accountable for the company he kept.   Barack Obama's campaign might be interested in the answer to that one.

Also, Imus asked Walters why she'd never written a book, so she could "drop the hammer on a bunch of people."  At the time, Walters said she had no desire to write a book, but "maybe later, then I can really say what I feel."

Flashback: Imus tangles with Spitzer

In March 2005, exactly three years ago, Eliot Spitzer made the Imus Ranch his latest target.

An article in the Wall Street Journal tried to raise questions about the ranch, and reported that Spitzer's office was looking into a delay in filing the charity's financial information.

Spitzer eventually dropped the matter and March 26, 2005, Charles Gasparino appeared on Imus' show to talk about Spitzer.   The broadcast can be heard in the media player on the right or by downloading the Imustruth Podcast.

Imus on Hillary in '95: "I Met Her, I Liked Her"

She may be "Satan" these days, but after Imus met Hillary Clinton in 1995 he had nothing but nice things to say.  Imus ran into Clinton after she taped a segment on Sesame Street, near his radio studio at the time.

Clinton could sure use some of that love these days, as she watches her campaign for President crash and burn.  Perhaps she can use the 1995 Imus "endorsement" as a March surprise?

August 6, 1998: Barnicle Under Fire

Leave it to Imus to take a week+ vacation after 8 months off.

In the meantime, we're digging into our archives and posting some classic Imus shows.  Our first offering comes from August 6, 1998.  I-fav Mike Barnicle was under fire for using jokes from George Carlin in his column.  Imus spent the morning defending Barnicle.  Larry King called in to add his support as well.

We wish we'd found this back in April.  It speaks volumes about standing up for what's right, and sticking by your friends.
