Barbara's Bombshells
Barbara Walter's book tour kicks into high gear next week, and one of her many appearances will be on Imus in the Morning.
Bab's 624 page book is packed full of juicy stuff, including the revelation that she had an affair with U.S. Senator Edward Brooke in the 1970s.
In December 1996, Walters appeared on Imus' show to talk about the most fascinating people of 1996. She also talked about her recent interview with Bill Clinton, and how she pressed the President on whether he should be held accountable for the company he kept. Barack Obama's campaign might be interested in the answer to that one.
Also, Imus asked Walters why she'd never written a book, so she could "drop the hammer on a bunch of people." At the time, Walters said she had no desire to write a book, but "maybe later, then I can really say what I feel."

This is a gem, webmaster! Thanks! It's an outstanding interview, and it's so amazing to hear how different the I-Man sounds 12 years later. He talked about 5 times faster back then.
Imus mentioned this week that someone sent him a clip from this interview. That didn't happen to be you, did it? ;-)

Once upon a time, Senator Brooke was a well respected Republican from the neighboring State of Massachusetts. Very cool! Barbara is one of us - a free thinker. Her father Lou Walters was a famous 'New York City Man about Town' and he would be most proud of his daughter's life choices. I think she's a classy NYC Damon Runyon kind of broad. Go Babs!

Doesn't anyone find Barbara Walters sleeping around slutty and disgusting? And don't give me that "men do it all the time" answer. Two wrongs don't make a right. SHe should keep her big mouth shut on her sexcapades. Her voice is irritating and her political views are just plain wrong. IMO.

To Mel and ILOVETHEIMANBUT: The Bernie e-mails are a great idea. IMO, I don't think you should wait to hear from everyone to agree on it - a lot of people are like me and very seldom post, but try to read Truth when they can.
I think you should pick a date and my guess is that there would be a huge flood of e-mails to the I-man on that date.
And ILOVETHEIMANBUT - I so much agree with you about the I-man demeaning his guests before they come on - it really does just make HIM look bad. It seems to me that all of the jerks that sold him out last April are back in his favor and all of the ones who were loyal are stabbed in the back before they come on the program. I guess he wants to be funny and there are so few ways left for him to be funny - but that is NOT funny at all to me. And.....I love the I-man.....BUT

twocents your right he isn't a big enough candy a$$ right now, he should really sugar coat everything he says.

Thanks twocents! OK how about Saturday May 10th through Sunday May 11th? This will give everyone two days to write an email and by monday they should (hopefully) have a ton of emails. I suggest emailing more than once!
I would also like to meet at the window, for those that live near enough, and hold up a nice long, big sign stating that WE WANT BERNIE BACK! or something to that effect. We may be able to grab their attention that way and have the benefit of getting on TV. How's 8am sound?? Come on, who wants to join me?? So emails and a sign, give me your take on that. Lets not just complain here, lets try to get something going!
Posted by: ilovetheimanbut | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 12:08 PM
Sounds good to me on the e-mailing.
I wouldn't be able to make it to NYC - sure wish I could. Hope a lot of people can, though - that would be great to see a bunch of signs in the window! Then the I-man would HAVE to publicly address it (well, maybe not).
Hope the signs mention Egan as well as Bernie. :-)
Posted by: twocents | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 12:25 PM
I'd love to see the signs outside the RFD studios. You should have a combination of "WE WANT BERNIE BACK" signs and "DUMP THE UNFUNNY TOKENS" signs.
Posted by: DUMPTHETOKENS | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 12:31 PM
I wouldn't do the second sign idea; that would hurt the feelings of some of the staff. But the Bernie sign? GREAT IDEA, please GO FOR IT

If you want Imus to hear you about bringing Bernie back, you need to get Craig Crawford's parents to say something to Craig that he will say on the air...that's how we got our one-and-only Cardinal of the new era...
Posted by: frec | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 05:08 PM
You folks planning a "bring back Bernie" e-mail campaign should remember this is a RADIO show with incidental TV cameras. The advertising that rules the roost is ALL on WABC. There is NO paid advertising on RFD during the Imus show, therefore little incentive to spend money on anything the I-man isn't demanding. He hasn't mentioned cameras for Bernie & Lou in many weeks, it is not in HIS Top Ten.
You may get the camera if Bernie's characters were to be brought back, but unfortunately they uttered the kinds of things that got Imus in trouble, and left him wide open to his critics.
And cameras aren't needed for Bernie & Lou to keep up their ad-libs on radio. Which have recently been more like the old days.
Hey, what message is the Dumper trying to convey when he CONSTANTLY refers to his least favorite candidate by the name HUSSEIN.
Can there be any doubt it's a smear attempt from a bigot?
Posted by: RTR | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 05:20 PM
I want more Bernie and less Karith!
Posted by: Imusfan | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 05:29 PM
I don't think Dumper is a bigot at all, but he or she is for John McCain and he or she doesn't trust Obama ! Neither do I!

IM4HER, what's the reason Dumper insists on using the middle name Hussein?
Don't trust him, that's fine, but what the purpose behind the name?
Posted by: RTR | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 05:59 PM
Seems to me that Ms. Walters was very down on Bill Clinton (absolutely no pun intended) when the Monica thing was going on and hmmm, she had an affair with an African American senator???? I've always liked Barbara, but doesn't that seem, well, hypocritical? Join the club then Babs...
Posted by: ID | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 06:01 PM
Good point RTR!
Posted by: IM4HER | Saturday, May 03, 2008 at 06:03 PM
I gotta admit that the name Hussein scares the bejesus out of me, when you're talking about the leader of the free world. I'm no bigot and some of my closest friends are African Americans (I'm white), but the name Hussein IS FRIGHTENING!

--Obama wins Guam.
--The USA loses due to a crazy, idiotic president and a war criminal veep who are planning to attack Iran before the November election.

Hussein is his middle name so why can't we say it?
Personally, I agree with Imus and think the man is a total phony. The idea of him being President is scary not because he is black but because he is so liberal.

Questions from the Beepster Creepster (who is stuck in a 50's time warp )
Where is Larry Kenney and why wasn't there any explanation about his disappearance?
Why is Bernard McGuirk "miked" but not shown on-air? He's heard but not seen. Explain.
Thanks from the ever-present Beep Creep and I'll be back folks!

I love this Barbara Walters interview. Thanks so much for posting it. And I agree with the first couple of bloggers here--that Imus sounds so very different now (though Chuck sounds the same).
I can't totally figure out what sounds so different, but he seems much less ornery in this Babs interview, and this for sure surprised me. I'd have thought he would have been more ornery in those earlier times.
His voice, too, sounds very different--it took me a minute to even realize it was the Iman. Something seemed calmer, gentler.
But again, before hearing this, I'd have thought just the opposite--that his voice would be mellower now.

My best guest is Larry Kenney got tossed overboard for Karith, Tony and a bigger role for Rob and nobody knows why Bernie and/or Lou aren't on his tiny little camera anymore but we (I) want to see him. His role is very limited in general in favor of the two new people. I got a satellite dish on my roof just to get RFD (a big disappointment) and I'm stuck looking at Karith all morning. Actually, we love Directv with all the extra channels and the whole thing about weather affecting the signal is nonsense. We're surrounded by massive trees on all sides and went through a severe hail storm in March and our signal never blinked.

I'm too young to know - was Walters hot when she was young? Maybe she and the I-Man had something going on back in the day?

Obama wins by 7 (7!) votes in Guam.
I guess they're just as divided as the upper 48.
And then the horse that Hillary picks to win the KD, DIES! Well to be more specific, she's "destroyed".
I can't wait for Tues.

Husayn, Hussein, Hussain, Husain, Hosein (Arabic:حسین Turkish: Hüseyin), is an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning "good" or "handsome". It is commonly given as a male given name among Muslims, after Husayn ibn Ali. In some Persian sources the form Háosayn is used [1].

Taha Hussein – Egyptian writer and Arabic literary scholar
Uday Hussein – son of Saddam Hussein
Pretty much Hussein is Arabic for Smith. There have been Hussein's who were/are our Allies and Husseins who were/are our enemies. One in particular we put into power in the 70's to fight Iran (after they ran out the tyrannical despot we put in office there) then threw him under the bus when he wouldn't do our bidding any more.
Would you hold the name Adolf against some one? Personally I think it's stupid, he didn't pick his name. But I guess that' just the perspective of somebody who had to go through childhood with a name that rhymes with fart.

PT,
Thank you, you put that very well. The name Hussein is so very common but the narrowminded are very good at making mountains out of mole hills.

If it sounds like one, looks like one, must be one. Same applies to Dump. A bigot.
Posted by: DumptheDump | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 08:50 AM
P. T., I get your point, but none of these people are trying to be President of the United States. I don't see anything at all wrong with electing a black president, for that matter, but why couldn't it be someone who was at least raised in America? I've been around for a few years and I have never even known of a prominent person in the USA with a name like that.
Does his name matter? I don't know. There are a good number of things about him, when added together, that raise quite a few red flags.
Posted by: Bella | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Bigots are not generally considered being "better than anyone". You would certainly not be the first, Dump.
Posted by: DumptheDump | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:04 AM
I could care less about Nobama's middle name, only care that he's not elected - he's too radical and far left fringe for this country. He has zero chance of winning the general so I'm not worried.
He's on Meet the Press and he's spinning away his 20-years with Rev. Wright in yet new ways. He can't make his mind up. He's into this whole black liberation thing which does scare me.
Posted by: Mel | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:11 AM
How come nobody is fainting at Obama rallies anymore? I wonder if it was a even real?
Posted by: | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:19 AM
Everybody should be sure and read up on what the black liberation theology really is. At first, I thought it was just more or less a way to raise self-image, but Wright blew that thought right out the window. It's a shame to poison children's minds with a hatred for the USA -- can you imagine what they must grow up thinking with him screaming over and over "this country lied", and the USKKKA. Man, that is serious stuff.
Posted by: Bella | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:21 AM
You can read his book and he talks about the big bad rich whites.
Posted by: Mel | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:27 AM
Obama's book or Wright's book?
I don't see how there can be any doubt that Obama believes this stuff. No adult man as intelligent as he is would be associated with Wright and be a member of his church for that long if he did not. It just defies logic to say otherwise. So the question to be answered is, does it matter? I certainly don't want a president who holds these views. Now that's a fact.
Posted by: Bella | Sunday, May 04, 2008 at 09:31 AM
Of course bigotboy thinks nothing of calling Karith and Tony "tokens". But me calling him a bigot is "name calling".
LOL go figure. Bigot is a perfect example of why there are 6.5 billion people on earth. Always one in a crowd.
