Bidding War for Imus
Newsmax's Rod Proctor reports a bidding war is underway for Imus now that his lawsuit against CBS has been settled. Proctor quotes radio-industry insiders as saying the I-Man is talking with ABC
about a morning-drive slot on flagship New York City station WABC.
Michael Harrison, publisher of industry bible Talkers magazine, tells Proctor that ABC is "denying it, but not too loudly. Proctor also says not to count out WOR. CLICK HERE to read the full story.

Old news....New Mexico Fred-Man already done reported this many, many days ago...right here on Imus Truth....
Call us back when you have some NEW news, NewsMax...lol
"He'll be a little bit easier behind the scenes and mellower on the air"...quote from Newmax dufus'..
Why would the I-MAN wanna come back if he gotta be a well-mannered, good lil boy?
I-MAN be shakin his head at all the nonsense that is written about him!
Imus will be back NO LATER than January...January at THE LATEST.
Posted by: New Mexico Fred | Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 02:13 PM
Three reasons WABC wants Imus
1) Curtis and Kuby are not national, Imus is easily syndicated.
2) Imus advertisers pay a significant premium for radio time.
3) Curtis and Kuby reportedly have significant personal differences which at times have threatened the show.
Too early to count out I-TV. There are plenty of cable channels that would want a morning show capable of delivering a top 2 or 3 audience. MSNBC is not one of these!
Imus needs the largest audience over the most outlets possible (Radio, Television, Satellite, Internet) to entice guests and to fund raise.

I hope bernie gets a second chance as well. He really was a asset to the show. Otherwise Bernie maybe looking to get his own show in the future. I think he would be a great radio host.
Posted by: Tom | Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 02:29 PM
No later than January, promise? I never thought Imus could come back and be all nice and sweet because it's not his nature. The man is authentic and that's why we all love him.
So Fred, break it to us....any Bernie news? We know Charles will be back but we want Bernard back too.
Posted by: Mel | Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 02:38 PM
Imus is too loyal. How could he not bring back Mcgirk?
Posted by: jeff | Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 02:47 PM
Bernie was screwed too, especially in Boston by the weasels at RKO who kept on convicted felon and former House Speaker Thomas Finneran and wouldn't even let Bernie try out. I know many think of Charles and Imus as the team but I think it's Imus and Bernie with Charles. Carlin will stay at FAN so he'll need a new sports guy. Sid's got his own show so he's out.
Posted by: Jack | Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 02:58 PM
I truly agree. Imus as a puppy dog is not Don Imus. He must be himself less the Nappy Headed Hoes. Imus without Charles, Bernie is a man without a Country.
My opinion of Sid is not one I will say on this site. He should do his show in Florida and be a success there. Maybe a call in a few times a week would be OK. But no Sid with Imus.
NM Fred knows. He told me.

TV audience is the way to go.
Imus has maybe 10 great broadcasting years left.
So go coast to coast.
His lawyer has advised him well so far.
The Kia mess won't hurt him.

First of all, Mel: You are welcome for the C.D. set. Hope it brings you much joy! Lenny has posted about six of the clips from them at his UTube site, which is listed on an earlier thread. Haven't heard from Lenny as of the past few days, but hope his Grandfather is doing better!
As far as WABC...I still believe he is going there and will be syndicated through Clear Channel throughout the U.S. And the plus is WABC has streamling capabilities so anyone can listen via computer. Curtis, earlier this week (of the Curtis and Kuby show) said he would have NO problem if Imus replaced him at WABC. He said, "He would be just fine". A January launch will probably be the next time we all can once again hear that familiar jingle..."Imus In The Morning"!

Don - you're a doll. We have hours and hours of Imus in the Morning! Lenny, keep us posted on your grandad. I know you won't forget how lucky you are to have a special grandfather - my sons were jipped (as was he) when my father-in-law passed before they were born.

In case you can't find Lennys' Youtube link on the earlier threads, it is: www.youtube.com/carbocation.
Check out the clip of "Imus Threatens To Stab Charles"...It's a classic and one of my personal favorites. Don

I have just ordered some more blank cd-r's so if anyone else would like a copy of the 6 C.D. collection, drop me a line at donaldinks@yahoo.com. I'm glad I saved all those clips, and I'm happy to share them with you all. Don

I am REALLY enjoying my CDs Donald, as I have already told you. I highly recommend them to anyone who reads this site ; Donald and his wife have hearts of gold!

Hey Kathy,
I just emailed Donald the same thing!! I-fans are the best!
BTW, did get your email from your work, replied & heard nothing back!
Kathy, you are the best but I just give up!
I guess your internet provider & mine are not intune. So I like seeing you on the boards any way!

I replied from my school account but let me check in the morning and see if it went ...and if it's in sent mail. I did get your email and I did reply; don't give up yet! :)
Take care everyone!

Don, I just spent 3 hours listening to Imus and the gang and I'm so content! Your editing is flawless - love that it's all the core group for the most part. I think I'll listen to some more before bed but don't want them to run out!

Mel,
You might also be laughing too hard to sleep!

There was some discussion about Greta Van Susteren here at some point. I couldn't find anything on YouTube regarding her ignorance about Imus. But did find this funny satirical site. Hope you enjoy it.

New Mexico Fred, any specific ideas re: I-TV? I agree he needs the most coast to coast exposure. And, at 67, I'm not sure he has 10 good broadcasting years left-maybe 5....
Comedy Central? Although it's owned by Sumner Redstone and CBS and run by Les Moonves...who, obviously, doesn't want Imus.
Fox wont' give up their mainstream, and popular 'Fox and Friends'.
Fox Business Network needs to go head to head with CNBC and appeal to financial geeks...that doesn't fit Imus in the Morning.
Where would he go on TV/cable? I agaree he absolutely needs a cable outlet.
A huge media conglomerate has to invest big time in Imus and his broadcast. It's a MAJOR committment to build a show around him. I love Imus, and think he's a superb broadcaster and interviewer, however, I feel both his terrestrial radio and cable TV options are limited. He will be back. I just wish I could figure out where on TV he would 'fit'.
Fred, your input would be appreciated.

The old Imus dvds are better than anything on - didn't even turn on the TV last night or this morning. I'm reminded how funny Lou was/is and why I started watching O'Reilly, because he used to be on Imus. I always preferred Imus in the Morning without the revolving door of NBC guests - he doesn't need all the guests to put on an entertaining show. I started listening to Imus on the radio and still prefer listening to the show versus watching. I got so much done around my home last night versus sitting in front of the TV. I sure hope he's back on soon.

Too bad they didn't get a chance to ask her about the name of her production co. "One Ho Productions" or her ostrisization over the uncouth Bush joke she made before she hung up on them.
(apologies if the Whoopi thing had already been posted; I'd never heard it before)

Meanwhile back at the Ranch...
Imus is going round and round with New York radio management AGAIN...
He likes fighting with those morons, I guess...
If Imus would just listen to reason and get sirius, he could do whatever the F he wanted to do.

I agree the show won't be the same without Bernie. I guess the longer Bernard stays unemployed means there's always hope for him to join Imus again.
I loved the show just as it was. I'm not sure I need to hear the I-Man and everyone cursing, etc. just because they could if they went to satellite.
I hope he can get something on regular radio. JMO.

Speaking of O & A...
Their shows have been pretty good this week...
Anthony can sound just like Don Imus! Pretty funny stuff..
Blankteevee!
If you can find the audio of Anthony doing Imus and Sharpton from earlier this week, please post a link...
T'was hilarious!

Fred saying Imus likes fighting with morons...that's not hard to believe.
Sounds like we might have a long wait.
Posted by: Mel | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 11:36 AM
The only thing I found is a cartoon like sound bite of O&A doing Imus and Sharpton.
It's just awful.

Blankteevee, Just cought your Whoopie thing.
I have seen her bad mouth Imus. She completely turned me off as a comic.
With her holier than thou attitude.
She is a good actress and used to be hilarious.
Now with her taking Rosie Odonnels place on the View, we can expect more one sided wiews of what is funny and what"s not.

Our missed expatriate Ree posted this - it's dated today and lists Imus as the 3rd most influential talk radio host! Huh?

Sean Hannity just announced a big announcement coming about a change at WABC!!!
Here it comes....he's on AM radio everywhere
Posted by: Mel | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 03:08 PM
I hear ya, Joann.
I'd read that her take on Imus wasn't favorable but I could NOT believe how incredibly STUPID she sounded on O&A...among other things, she misquoted the Ifill incident - misquoted what has already been misquoted, and didn't know the names of the inter-racial couple she was trying to use to bolster her 'Imus is a racist' point...she didn't even know IITM included comedy ! And she F'n hung on them !
I'd always liked her, but alas, she definitely gets filed with the others who have disappointed.
I know it was 4 months ago, but I wrote her an email anyway.

Hannity says the announcement is coming...
Posted by: Mel | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:26 PM
They're saying it's some old guy returning to WABC that I've never heard of...I give up. Ho hummm
Posted by: Mel | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:38 PM
Frec...LOL..how in the HELL did you know it was my birthday? LOL...well thanks for the wishes...much appreciated!
Posted by: Donald Inks | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:40 PM
I tuned in and Hannity is playing it up, who is this old guy?! Jeeezus.
Posted by: Sue | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:40 PM
I still think it's Imus news coming shortly. Hannity wouldn't be playing this game otherwise.

Did he say "get Kadafi" ????
Posted by: Blankteevee | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:53 PM
The "old guy" taking over an evening slot is 78 ??!!!
Imus is a SPRING CHICKEN !
Posted by: Blankteevee | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 04:56 PM
The "old guy" is Bob Grant. He's amazing. I listened to him a lot when I was a kid (I'm only 23 you know. :P).
I'll write a new post and things soon. My grandfather's doing... alright. It can still go either way. His 90th birthday is tomorrow, and they're doing the operation he needs tomorrow as well. I was in DC this week, so I don't know all of what's going on.
THANK YOU, though, to EVERYONE for your kinds words. I'd had a chance to read every now and then. You're all awesome.

Hey Doninx, I would say I'm a mind-reader, but that would be cheatin'. Actually, you told it yourself on the other site and I remembered cuz we're almost born on the same day! Some days it feels "old" and other days it's like we're just gettin' started... Glad you're having a good one...:)

Bob Grant is a radio legend. He is on wabc, can Imus be far behind? Makes zero sense that its less than 2 weeks till labor day and no Imus announcement. ANyone care to explain?
Posted by: jeff | Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 07:44 PM
Yawn.
Tired of reacting to every rumor.
Why doesn'tt everyone google W.G. & her days with Ted Dansen?
Especially when ole Ted appeared in BLACKFACE. at a Friars Club Roast. What a controversy.
But then again Whoopi ain't screwing Imus. How selective blacks have become! It's only when you disagree with their beliefs are you a racist.
And NMF; stop pulling our chain!!

I know, ML, I got all worked up for nothing! It would be a lie to say I won't get sucked in again so I won't bother....back to listening to my Best of Imus cds which really are wonderful. HB, Don and thanks again. The guys are along on my bike rides and my husband came in earlier when I was listening and said how great it was to hear Imus again, like a long, lost friend.
