Nothing will happen to Al. It's your usual double standard at work. He's such a phony and I don't watch him ever, makes me sick.

Jim

Ah what a wonderful thing. The HYPOCRACY OF AMERICA.

Don IMUS can make an insensitive remark and he is held to scorn and ridicule, loose his livelyhood. Be castigated in public. Make the headlines on every major news outlet print and television. Have people that IMUS has supported for many years dump him as if he were a lepper.

AL JOKER makes a commet that is just as insensitive and what happens, Nothing not a word is said about it on any media outlets. Why, because he is one of the BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. He can say anything. He is an A$$HOLE that does the weather on the YESTERDAY SHOW. What a joke. Such a doulble standard.

I hope that the FRAUDS at NBC are reviewing his contract and will fire him.

Maybe if he apoligies to a meeting of those afficted with epilepsy everything will be alright.

God, I hate the double standard in this country.

Can't belive that it is 62 DAYS without IMUS.

carrie elkin

I have nothing to say about the fat phony. The hypocrisy that has been displayed lately is disgusting. I can't help but think that is will ultimately help IMUS in his lawsuit. You really can't make this crap up. So I guess I need to thank the Al Rokers of the world...you're making IMUS' attorney's job much easier.

harleyquinn92

NBC news President Steve Capus said he made the network that carried Imus’ show, decided to drop the show after reading thousands of emails and having countless discussions with NBC workers and the public, but he denied the potential loss of advertising dollars had anything to do with it.

"This decision came as a result of an ongoing review process, which initially included the announcement of suspension. It also takes into account many conversations with our own employees," NBC said in a statement.

DO YOU THINK HE HAS HAD ANY CONVERSATIONS ABOUT AL ROKER YET?

WE SHOULD E-MAIL EVERYONE WE KNOW ABOUT THE IMUS-ROKER HYPOCRISY ISSUE! DON'T LET IT GO AWAY! HE WAS THE MAIN ONE BLASTIN' IMUS! I DON'T CARE IF THEY LIKE IMUS OR NOT, SEND IT ANYWAY! WE CAN'T CONTINUE TO SAY, OH HE'S BLACK, IT'S OKAY! WE HAVE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE! SENT IT TO THE MAJOR AND LOCAL TV NETWORKS, WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR NEWSPAPER (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN THE NYC OR L.A. AREA), JUST GET THE WORD OUT!

Here’s a link that you can e-mail! Let’s put it on BLAST!

Ms. M

the difference between the Imus comment vs Roker comment was mediamatters.org isn't going after roker....Imus was a political hit & now the left is going after a radio station in florida that airs limbaugh....Imus firing had nothing to do with his remarks & that is why nothing is happening or will happen to roker....the left, hil in particular, wanted Imus gone & now Wesley Clark is going to MSNBC....do think there is some serious corralations about MSNBC just might be lefty controlled....don't hate the messager, used to be a dem myself....but with what they are behind in sanitizing the airwaves, can't do it no more....BOYCOTTING MSNBC/CBS/media hos/hil, obama

Mel

Capuussy is so full of s---! You know they deleted all the Pro-Imus voice and emails. They fired him within days and couldn't possibly have read them all, give me a break. As he admitted later, Keith Olbermann and Roker along with Sharpton swayed him.

I'm afraid the chances of Al Roker getting fired are slim to none but at least he's feeling a little pressure, the big fat phony.

harleyquinn92

The plan is NOT to get him fired, but turn up the heat a little!! Make him know that he hurt folk and is a HIPPO-crite!!!!!!!!

I wonder what happened with the "focus group"? Mr. Capus got an email from me supporting Imus the first day this happened, and I know he got many, many more so I don't believe he read and weighed in on any of them. He just consulted with his employees "Roker and Olbermann". What a way to run a business!!??!!

Berniefan

Poor Al, he is finding out the hard way what happens when you pass judgment on others!

I am just getting on board with this and I am so angry. I don't think Al Roker should be able to get away with this. Someone had a GREAT idea which was to contact Bill O'Reilly. He loves to dig into stuff like this. Does anyone know how to contact him, website?? I will look into it and I will listen to his show soon and find out how I can contact his staff.

I always thought joker was a fat, well, JOKE. I never think of him as anything other than a half-(in his case full)-assed weatherman.
I never have watched the networks since I got cable in the late 70's. So it is no big deal for me to boycott CBS or NBC. Actually, what the hell is the difference? If you read all that is in print, these two "independent networks" have an incestuous relationship. Somone gets fired from one, they're off to the other.
Does anyone else think that this is strange? I asked a similar question on an earlier post and was told that both are owned by Viacom.
Where is Teddy Roosevelt when you need him?

I found Al Roker's email address and just sent him an email:

mailbag@roker.com

Kathy Murfreesboro, TN

This is the email I sent Roker:

Dear Mr. Roker,

In light of your recent hurtful comments on the air, I have made a donation to the Imus Ranch.

I keep expecting to hear that you have resigned or that you were fired due to the “offensive” comments you made. You certainly called for Imus’ head when that situation occurred.

I believe now you will see that firing someone is unnecessary and that you helped contribute to the disgraceful treatment of Don Imus.

People out there have handicapped children, Mr. Roker ; it could have been one of yours you were making fun of…

Maybe in the future, you will think twice before throwing stones at another human being . Mr. Imus has done so much good for many charities and he was extremely mistreated by you and others who exhibit an abundance of hypocritical behavior.

Imus has many loyal fans who were very hurt by what happened to him and we are counting the days until he returns.

I forgive you for your cruel comments but it is harder to forgive what you did to Don Imus.

Sincerely,

Kathy M. Bennett

Kathy - fantastic e-mail to Roker! You represent us well...thanks. :-)

Kathy Murfreesboro, TN

Thank you so much , Linda! :)

JoeM

Folks,
If we are really concerned about Al Roker and his hypocrisy I think a letter to the top guy at GE is in order. I know I will be firing out a letter later today. Here is his address:

Jeffery R. Immelt
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
General Electric Company
3135 Easton Turnpike
Fairfield, CT 06828

Kathy

Thanks for the address; my letter is going out tomorrow morning.

Mary Lynn

All,

I just watched the last half hour of Oprah on Imus, and let me tell you it was NAUSEATING!!
I'm sorry black people out there, but her panel would make anyone a racist!! They compared Imus to Snoop Dogg who is a real fucking dog!! If I was a black person I sure as hell would look around for someone else to "speak" for me. Bush doesn't speak for me; I hate this illegal war! But as I posted before, Oprah sticks with all blacks right or wrong!!
And what happened to al's marches? Jack fucking shit!!
Fuck Oprah (take back what I said about liking her) and her ilk! She loves being black so mcuh that why her best friend & lover of 30 yrs both look white!!

SusanE

Oprah and her buddies got rid of Imus nearly 70 days ago. He has been completely gone, we haven't heard a word from him in all this time....so why does Oprah put on an Imus-hating rerun at this point of time? Are we having an effect?

Mary Lynn

I would like to think so, but I don't know.

Thia is the last post I'm am goind to write until we hear from Imus himself. If he doesn't care, why should we?

JoeM

Mary Lynn

Two things here: one Imus is caught in a legal process where his words could be twisted against him in that venue; also Imus schtick was always to appear not to care about listeners.

Mary Lynn

You're right, Joe. I was just frustrated after watching the Oprah show yesterday when she & a panel bashed Imus.

JoeM

Folks, Here is a copy of my letter to Mr. Immelt, again I would encourage you to write similar snail mail letters.

Dear Mr. Immelt,

I have to waited write this letter because I didn’t want to act hastily or in anger. However, I do believe it is time that you take an interest in the following issues.

On April 14th the following quotes are taken from your NBC News Division’s, Today Show weatherman Al Roker’s online blog.

“I, for one, am really tired of the diatribes, the "humor" at others expense, the cruelty that passes for "funny". Don imus (sic) isn't the only one doing this, but today he's the one in the hot seat.

What he said was vile and disgusting. It denigrated an entire team and by extension, a community and its pride in a group that had excelled…

Yet, Don Imus needs to be fired for what he said. And while we're at it,his producer, Bernard McGurk (sic)needs to be canned as well. McGurk (sic) is just as guilty, often egging Imus on.

The "I'm a good person who said a bad thing" apology doesn't cut it.”

It is then outrageous that Al Roker did make the following comment on the June 7, 2007 Today Show:
"Remember that controversial Olympic logo for the 2012 Olympics in London? Some folks have complained that the campaign actually sent them into epileptic seizures,
Well, we asked you to weigh in on our Web site in an informal poll; those of you who could get up off the floor after shaking around were able to actually log in…"

with no repercussions.

Al’s apology was weak and trite and quite frankly in light of the standards Al set for television commentary quite frankly insufficient. I am only asking you to hold Al to his own standard and terminate his employment with NBC.

My mother and brother both suffer from epilepsy and nothing in my life has been more frightening than to be there as they have gone into grand mal seizures. The terror of those days will live with me forever. The laughing of the in studio anchors after Al’s comment was even more offensive than the original comment.

I have ceased watching any programming on NBC or MSNBC since the Imus firing and I need to some action before I will return.

Very truly yours,

Joseph

Devin Leonard

Leave it to "fat-boy Roker" to think insult humor is ok, as long as it isn't towards blacks. What Roker said was far more cruel then what Imus said, yet he gets away with it. Roker should be out on his large ass.
